TOKYO--Mobile Suit Gundam Z: AEUG vs. Titans, Bandai’s latest Japanese PS2 release, stormed to the top of the sales charts this week with 352,472 units sold. Bandai’s giant robots handily outpaced its nearest competition, Gran Turismo 4: Prologue, which also launched this week. GT4:p settled for second place with sales of 179,539.

According to a spokesman in Bandai’s Tokyo headquarters, the hit game will be released in the U.S. as well, but he did not reveal the date.

Mobile Suit Gundam Z: AEUG vs. Titans is the latest installment in the robot combat series that last came to the U.S. with Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon in the fall of 2002. The game brings online support to the series for the first time, allowing gamers at home to enjoy the team-based play that has made the game a hit in Japanese arcades.

Here's to hoping that the North American version has online play (and a dual language track :D ), and that Bandai/Capcom put out more games in the series!

A buddy of mine is getting a chipped PS2 for X-mas, and if I have my way, Zeta Gundam will be the first game it plays :)

Speaking of which, Isn't the US "Gundam Encounters in Space available"? Does it support online matches like the Jap version? I *think* the Jap version allowed for the download of new missions and units, including Winged Zero Custom.

As far as I know Encounters in Space is offline only...

o_O :devilish:

And I just watched a lousy vcd(probably pirated) of Char's Counterattack, and have lots of gripes...

1. The first half is a rushed mess.

2. What is the author/director trying to convey with Quess? Demonstrate that Char is a bad guy since he manipulated her? Making criticisms of rebellious and selfish youths? It certainly doesn't do either one well at all. Or just trying to make the plot more interesting to fill screen time? In which case I'm disapppointed that they did not come up with something more interesting.

3. "People are unbelievably stupid" plot hole. Char just dropped one rock on Earth and then they conveniently sell him another rock complete with nuclear powered thrusters. I suspect that even a pre-teen can spot the stupidity of this. They should just blow up themselves to save everyone the bother.

3. If there was some kind of moral at the end of the show - it was quite badly conveyed. Or maybe they could not think of one anyway, but hoped that the audience thought there was some kind of profound message.

Only one redeeming attribute are the battles. Those were really intense - amazing that they were done in the 1980s. When Amuro sets up an energy shield with the funnels =
