Realtime frame interpolation upscaling 30fps to 60fps

Given advanced updates due to head moving will display part of an image previously off screen would that not be hard to predict or will they use some over scan to give them extra edge data to allow this to be possible?

Or with this being peripheral vision is this a non issue?

The valve VR presentation suggested that all hmds have a recommended frame buffer that is some factor larger than the display resolution. I asked the question in a different thread, and it seems to be for warping, but there could be an opportunity to have information for reprojection. I'd imagine rendering at 1.4x 1080p at 60fps is a lot easier than 1080p at 120fps. Dealing with 8.3ms frames must be a nightmare.
