R6XX for Xbox2 (questions for Dave Baumann)?

I think it will have edram but i don't think it will just be an r500.

I'm also thinking 64-96 megs or edram as that should be more than enough for 4-6x fsaa . With 256-512 megs of ram for video 256 megs of system ram shared with the sound chip.
 
64 MB of eDRAM? That might be a bit overload considering the transistor count alone, I know the density is a lot tighter but come on.
 
If the release date is at the end of 2006, the amount of edram needed might not be that great. The bandwidth from GDDR-4 (Micron and Samsung going with a smaller micron process than .11 nm to fab memory) could potentially yield substantial bandwidth for a console. Dedicating transistors for shader execution instead of bandwidth seems more probable.

of course by reading the psp threads you will know that edram prices drop quicker than standard ram . :)

So it would make more sense to add more edram than gddr. IT will offer alot better performance too
