r520 performance speculation

The GeForce 6600 GT seems to do pretty well with its 128-bit bus and 500MHz clockspeed with eight pipelines. So I don't think we've hit a memory bandwidth wall yet. Current technologies have pushed that wall back quite far.

well my 6800GT with memory running at 1132 is still memory limited.

Post numbers, man. Some games are going to be more memory bandwidth-limited than others, for example.

do you know a way to benchmark EQ2?

if the main improvement to this chip is simply the memory architecture, a lot of people are going to be disappointed. sm 3.0 isnt worth releasing a new chip for at this point in time imo

Fraps, Reccomend doing it in a place like the Qeynos Catacombs. Which seem to be fairly well pixel limited (Texture/Pixel) Or if you wanna be pixe limited. Go to the Sunken City in freeport :)

TBR? I wish.

People have constantly said this for upcoming cards since several years ago. We still don't have it.

Oii .. that's my wish list ok .. doesn't mean it's fact.

:p

btw. that's most probably gonna be my R6xx part except of course the SM4.0 bit.

Found on Yahoo, apparently from the "National Post" (paid website):

Graphics chip manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc. appears to be flush with cash these days, holding about US$400-million more than it needs to run its operations. The company could use the money to repurchase shares or make an acquisition. Gus Papageorgiou, an analyst at Scotia Capital, thinks ATI should expand into mobile phone processor applications. In particular, the analyst believes that ATI should buy Imagination Technologies Group PLC, which trades on the London Stock Exchange.

;)

(And, no, I don't put much merit in it, but its an interesting one!)

Was posted already in the "Series6" thread. As I said there all ATI needs is to design a stronger chip than Imageon and switch to selling IP in that market. Buying out IMG just for that sounds a tad overkill to me, plus that it could essentially mean the death of the last TBDR frontier in general. Not that IMG is releasing anything for the PC for the past few years, but I don't think black suits me particularly well....
