quick poll - existing game performance R600 + G80

ever so slightly faster in typical settings. However Ill be more concerned with high IQ, I want all eye candy settings on with a high resolution and playable frame rates.

What facts do we know about R600. We do know that it will be AMD/ATI's fatest DirectX9 card, no big surprise there. We know that AMD has been constantly talking about DirectX10 leadership. We know that performance comparisons on current games have been almost non-existent up to this point comparing R600 to G80. That all points to the R600 being at best slightly faster than G80 in current games, especially at resolutions less than or equal to 1920x1200. R600 will probably have a more pronounced advantage at super high res like 2560x1600.

In addition to what we know:
512bit bus(more bandwidth if they need it)
320 processing units of some kind
~512GFLOPs
"more performant" with geometry shaders
And I'd venture a guess that the drivers are more stable because ATI seems to have figured out how to code graphics drivers for Vista unlike Nvidia. Also we have no idea if the rumored benchmark numbers that have released are using good drivers. It's possible some of those crazy memory controller optimizations they were using on the R5xx series haven't been implemented for R6xx. And the gains shown with higher levels of AA/AF were fairly significant there.

seems like the (unsurprising) result is ppl here think the R600 will be quicker, i have my doubts though, if it aint the fastest i believe we'll hear talk about it performing well in future d3d10 ogl3.0 titles

the leaked 8800 ultra specs put it at 650/1800/2200. we already have cards at 630/1500/2000 that show almost no improvement over stock. i dont see how 8800 ultra is going to be any big increase.

If you comparing similar performance increase from GF6800GTX to GF6800Ultra then I would agree.....
Plus how can you say that without even know exactly how R600 will perform at the first place before throwing your judgment how G80Ultra will stack against R600.
I'm not defending R600, but we simply could not jump to the conclusions
seems the B3d forum users wouldnt make great gamblers ( as ~90% guessed wrong, which is higher than i thought to be honest i thought ~75% would choose the R600 )
i should of stuck odds on the original post R600 $1.33 G80 $3.00
