Question about the 2D performance of the X800s

I always had NVDA cards and I bought my first ATI card last year the 9800XT. I really like this card but I have one problem with it. When I open my photo albums and they bring up the thumbnails it is REALLY SLOW!! THe NVDA 5900 card I had opened it like instantly. Why is this and is it faster with the new X800s?

I know it is the card. Only thing I changed in my system. Fresh install of OS.
