Well, we all knew this day would come. An ISO loader for Lumines has been released by some anonymous group. It requires a UMD (any UMD) to be in the slot, but it does boot up the Lumines ISO from the Memory Stick. People are reporting that it loads the game faster but with no sound.

Today the World's first PSP Launcher was released for Lumines. We have already confirmed it works on a v1.50 firmware PSP with the Dynarox USA release of Lumines, however, it currently plays without sound. How was this achieved exactly? Well, similar to the WAB MS Launcher you'll need to extract the contents of the Lumines iSO to your Memory Stick's root directly using iSOBuster or a similar application. When doing this, you should end up with a PSP_GAME directory there with all the game files in it, and also a UMD_DATA.BIN file in the MS root. Then simply install the Lumines Launcher by copying the files to your PSP\GAME directory manually or via the previously-released KXpolit v1.50.

Before it will work, there is one final step you must do (how it works) so read carefully... you will need to patch the BOOT.BIN file that is located on your MS in the PSP_GAME\SYSDIR with the included PPF Patch (for reference, in BOOT.BIN it patches 0x0000000000081D88 = 6661746D73303A2F5053505F47414D452F555352444952 so from "disc0" to "fatms") using PPF-O-MATiC 3.0 so that the check routines are modified. Once this is done, simply launch Lumines from the PSP Main Menu and it will run (without sound, for now) from your PSP Memory

And in about 2-3 days this complicated technique will be boiled down into a simple folder I have to download/copy/paste to make it work on my PSP. 8)

GODS I LOVE THE UNDERGROUND PSP SCENE!!!!!! :D

Out of curiousity, does anyone know how big the Luminas image is? :|

Lumines would suck without the music.. it's one of the best things about the game.

Amazing how quickly things are progressing though.

Seems like it snowballing, now Puzzle bobble/Coded arms/Mercury now work off a memstick. The irony is that you still need to buy games to make it work as they require different umds in the drive to work.

With the biggest games and say when the 2GB sticks come down in price that would be great for batterylife no?
But whats the chance Sony would allow that you could copy the game to a DUO and play it from there?

whats the chance??? they will surely do your ass if they find out about somebody

rumor going around is that they were able to get ridge racer to work off the mem stick and are going to announce it in the next week or so , dunno how true it is

I wonder if a game that's set to update your PSP's firmware will do so if it's a ripped version from the UMD, run from the memory card.

The ultimate irony would be for a load of PSP owning folks looking to play full games they've not paid for which update their PSP's firmware, stopping them from doing it ever again (at least for a while)

I laughed pretty well at your post, but made a mental note to keep an eye out for that in the future too.

I still have yet to try any actual PSP images, my son is having too much fun still with all the other emulators.
