PS3 price drops to 299€ in some places

Is there any precedent for clear out sales of older model being lower than the newer model being introduced?
Basically they are now dropping the old one to €299, but the slim will be launched with €349 price for instance?
 
Yes, it's a rather common model. Sometimes the retailers are offered price protection for the discount of the old model.
 
I have seen a PS3 offer this morning in the local Mediamarkt for 360 euro (including 2 games and some other stuff) They seem to clear stock as these units where going very fast :)

In other shops there are also PS3 offers. There seems to be something going on.
