PS3 development costs not astronomical?

Haha, yeah, how many movie to games actually turn out to be awesome? I can think of Spiderman, which used this same idea, and Chronicles of Riddick.

What about movies that don't have CG for all the characters? The modelers still have to do them too, and would have to do them in the same quality as the models they already have, otherwise the game would look really weird with awesome models and sub-par models.

What about the game companies that aren't making movie games? They still face the "astronomical costs"

The way to make a cheap PS3 game is to ignore the SPEs, and just treat it as a stripped down PC. Sort of an Xbox 120 if you will.

Yeah because SPE coding will definately take up the vast majority of the game budget!!!

How about content, both visual and audio, marketing, and even GPU optimisations....

Sure, you would want to cut corners everywhere, but the areas you mention are not PS3 specific.

I guess I should have said "in addition to cutting the normal corners, PS3 budget games are going to have the additional handicap of having to cut SPE development."
