Everyone is getting really wound up over this card, but I have a really hard time understanding why. The features sound impressive and all and I'll be interested in seeing the reviews (although I'm skeptical of the performance).
But really what it comes down to, is it just doesn't matter. This card is just too expensive for a vast majority of people to even consider buying. If this card is going to sell for $400, I have a hard time seeing how it will be anything but a very limited success. Even if this is the greatest thing since sliced bread the extreme price immediately puts it out of reach of most of the people who would consider buying it.
Remember ATi and Nvidia make most of their money off of the $100 and $200 markets. I think Matrox is making a huge mistake on the price, and I suspect the situation is going to be pretty much the same as with the G400 Max. Although the card performed decently and had some good features, it was also twice as expensive as other cards on the market.
You don't make it big in the gaming segment by JUST selling $400 cards, and I rather suspect that after the Parhelia is released, good or not, Matrox will disappear from the scene again for the next 2-3 years.
