Well... That guy on the box doesn't look very excited about his new graphics card for starters. :)

*G*

Worried, so worried about my wallet.

Let's hope the driver is stable and the hardware DVD acceleration is enabled when it ships.

Nice to see that they've emphasized the triple-head feature. I'm sure all 7 people who have three displays appreciate the attention. ;)

Seriously though, it'll be nice to see some hands-on reviews.

If there's only 2 DVI outputs, how do you hook up 3 monitors?

you know Matrox... G400 had only 2 Analog VGA outputs and still you could use second head as TV-out.

I think they have something like multipurpose signaling in second one.
I have seen split up cable coming from second one in some pictures.

I really don't know if anyone understands what I ment, but I can't explain it in english. (yep, I tried but didn't figure out my explanation by myself so I give up.) ;)

I agree...The guy on the box looks totally uninterested!

Good call! :)

Honestly, I can't wait to see real Antialiased shots...and the framerate impact.

Oompa Loompa

now days its easy to get a half way decent 17" new monitor for $150 or so less if you go online. Granted they wont be high end....

I for one have 4 monitors at home...of course they are all being used but still it would be neat just to try tripple displays for once.

I'm still bummed they havent listed HeadCasting(tm) as a feature of this new videocard line

But they could have. With some of these new games you get voice over IP built into the game (HL games). So now you can get a 3d version of their head poping up in the game when they talk...even better, spread the head over 3 monitors..thats one big head :) sorry could not resist :)

Looks like it's official:

The retail board will have 220 / 275 core / memory clock (MSRP $399), and the oem will have 200 / 250 for MSRP $349.

Now to wait for the reviews.... ;)

This sucker seems to have a lot of excess bandwidth. With those numbers, they have 166 bits of bandwidth per pixel, per clock. Compare that to a 8500 and GF4 Ti4200, with only 64 bits per pixel per clock, and a GF4 Ti4600 at 69. I was expecting lower clocks for the memory to save unnecessary costs.

I expect nothing less than 95%+ fillrate efficiency in most situations, seeing as how these current cards already get fairly efficient fillrates. Anisotropic filtering really ought to come at minimal cost. I sure hope Matrox designed this card properly, or it will be a big shame.

Everyone is getting really wound up over this card, but I have a really hard time understanding why. The features sound impressive and all and I'll be interested in seeing the reviews (although I'm skeptical of the performance).

But really what it comes down to, is it just doesn't matter. This card is just too expensive for a vast majority of people to even consider buying. If this card is going to sell for $400, I have a hard time seeing how it will be anything but a very limited success. Even if this is the greatest thing since sliced bread the extreme price immediately puts it out of reach of most of the people who would consider buying it.

Remember ATi and Nvidia make most of their money off of the $100 and $200 markets. I think Matrox is making a huge mistake on the price, and I suspect the situation is going to be pretty much the same as with the G400 Max. Although the card performed decently and had some good features, it was also twice as expensive as other cards on the market.

You don't make it big in the gaming segment by JUST selling $400 cards, and I rather suspect that after the Parhelia is released, good or not, Matrox will disappear from the scene again for the next 2-3 years.
