Official E3 Nintendo Conference Thread 2010

Yawning, not a word on specs. I saw nothing impressive or even on the PSP level...
Hum I guess I'll have to wait and see how much the 3D effect brings on the table, but I'm underwhelmed right now.

And here I play games and not tech. I don't care a whit for most of Nintendo's franchises (I do like Kirby, though) but this was a really good conference. Barely a whisper of gaming as a lifestyle/casual stuff, a half dozen new game announcements.

Great show from Nintendo.

Great games plus great new hardware. That's a winning combination right here, right there, folks.

Now, the next step would be for us, B3D denizens, to start speculating on the 3DS GPU. I've noticed EMBM-like effects on that Kid Icarius video, so, even though it would make very little sense technologically wise, a shrink Flipper might be powering that thing. I say that wouldn't make much sense as a technological choice, since you could get a dedicated embedded part with more features for the same price the R&D required for optically shrinking Flipper, but Nintendo execs have shown that they're willing to make choices that might seem unnatural to the tech-head types but make a lot of sense business wise. The good business part here being the ability for devs to recycle their tools/workflows/engines from Wii to 3DS easily.

The other option would be a Mali core from ARM.

some good, some meh. That icarus game didn't really look that great. It's a step up from the ds, but come on.....we want something better....I'm guessing 64 megs of ram at most.

Someone said 3DS preview showed a clip of a Starfox ship. I'd be all over Starfox. Why isn't there a good Starfox on Wii?!

Good God, not another Flipper derivative?! Of all the possible, available solutions, talked about at length in the handheld forum, to go with 1990s tech would be a travesty.

What was in the regular DS? This system maintains backwards compatibility, so I'm guessing it's roughly the same internals, maybe more memory and clocked higher.

Come on my boss was watching with me at some point we decided to quit and get a cigarette...
It's not new games those are the same game plus some poor gimmick (look like there are running out of good gimmick).

Then there is the motion plus + wiimote which was having problem both on zelda then to a lesser extend on Mickey. And everybody keep shooting at Ms about what and what not...

Double standards I guess.

Anyway I'm deceived by the 3DS I know that 3DS as to be experienced for "real" but they could have shown more footage nonetheless. I suspect they didn't because they don't reach PSP level.
Hopefully Sony conf will be good, the y have 3D, move and great games (LBP2, last guardian, KZ 3, GT5, GOW DLC, plus some surprise announcement).
The show was boring and broken.

Came in just to see what I'd missed. Thanks for the summary Arwin. Saves a lot of my time.

Has two camera lenses on the outside, to take 3D pictures.

This is all I needed to know. At the organic level, pr0n and user generated content will help drive 3D adoption in a viral manner.

The next thing to see is the quality of the 3D photo, video (?) and screen... like whether it's as vivid as the Panasonic Plasma 3DTV. Perhaps all high end portable devices will have 3D screen and camera next year. . 3DS will help drive the entire 3D effort, including those 3DTVs and consoles with glasses.

Will skip the Sony conference too. This is way more efficient. :p

EDIT:
.. oh and Wind Waker style whatever is awesome. Second best news for me.

I thought it was a really good conference. Had humour and hundreds of beautiful women. I think there were some games and new hardware aswell.

Seriously tho i liked the look of the new Kirby it reminds me of Paper Mario in some ways and looked to play in lots of interesting ways.

Double standards I guess.

Indeed double standards, if 6 unannounced (if rumored) games are suddenly 'same old games with a gimmick' when elsewhere 'shooter #4444' gets a pass. The last console Zelda was a GC game. There hasn't been a console Kirby in ages. Donkey Kong... well, there was the Jungle Beat game, and its re-release, but not a platformer.

Why would Nintendo even care about reaching PSP level? The DS didn't reach the PSP's level, how did that go for them?

Or it was pretty awesome.
If you're a die hard fan, that's it. I'm not and of any brand.
I was so exited about the 3DS...
Hopefully Sony will do better and in regard to handled the PSP2 will likely do the same tricks but with up to date graphic otherwise smartphone will be good enough for me.

Devastatingly underwhelming. Besides the 3DS game ann-ohwait game promises. Not even anything to show beyond Kid Icarus. :(

But again this is big N and they've screwed up most of their E3s so it's probably okay.
EDIT: I'm referring to the 3DS part only, the Wii segments are pretty nice! More robust than MS' core titleship, but again the Wii itself post-conference isn't any bit more enticing for people like me, who UNfortunately did not own a 64 or GC and get left out on all prior franchises. Still, should allay lots of doubts.

I am in no way a diehard fan. The initial lineup is good, including several hardcore titles (metal gear, resident evil). It looks like they'll have some good games and good support from 3rd parties. Very promising.
