I believe Nvidia also removed all/some/most of the motion compensation and overlay acceleration features when moving from the GF3 to GF4 Ti. At least if I understand the specs correctly. I haven't a clue how much such features cost in terms of transistors, though. I suppose they removed it for a reason.
