3dmark 2001 is a pointless benchmark...
I dont understand why they dont make 1600x1200 standard for the scores.

Well why would Nitro be a surprise? I mean they already had "TNT". Although ironically TNT is a more advanced form of explosive than Nitroglycerin. They should have started out with Nitro, then moved on to Dynamite and finally TNT.

Yes, the original Det's were released for the TNT. Their primary benefit, at the time, was the inclusion of 3DNow! optimizations for K6-2 CPUs. Before these drivers, 3dfx cards were really the only viable choice for those with AMD's processors.

Yes, the original Det's were released for the TNT. Their primary benefit, at the time, was the inclusion of 3DNow! optimizations for K6-2 CPUs. Before these drivers, 3dfx cards were really the only viable choice for those with AMD's processors.

I remember that well. ACE's hardware had quite a good review where socket 7 owners were shown the V3 was their best upgrade perfromance wise.
