Hi,
I have a GigaByte GA-7VAXP Motherboard which has a Promise 20276 RAID/ATA133 chip onboard, connected to a pair of 120Gb Matrox hard disks which are stripped, all running under Win 2000. The problem is that the PSU died and took the Motherboard with it.
Now would be a good time to upgrade my PC but the problem is that I don't want to loose everything on the Array as there is some stuff which isn't backed up
My understanding is that the only way to rescue my data is to get another GA-7VAXP and forget about the upgrade?
Could I upgrade my PC and use an addin RAID card from Promise in a new machine to allow me to see the existing array?
Are there any software solutions that would allow me to add another hard disk (to boot from) in a new system and then allow me to plug the array in as aux drives to give me time to make backups?
If the upgraded Motherboard has a different onboard RAID controller is there anyway of getting the existing array to work with it?
Thanks in anticipation...
