yeah yeah..just popped up in my head while thinking about DOA4...and then the current games and then this:

Does anyone know if motion capture is used for the DOA games? and if so... if they place those... mocap things on the um... well you know... to get the bouncy effect?

I know it's just a question out of the left field here.... ;)

If I recall correctly they don't use Mo-cap, in fact all the animation in DOA 3/Ultimate was actually taken from DOA2.

Don't think so, the only animation that really matters to most buyers is the breast animation ;) Not sure how you wanna capture that :D

The animation is kinda stiff anyway IMO, like Tekken. And now that i've seen some footage from the new 3D KOF i'm convinced that these kind of games are better in 2D or pseudo 3D.

just a thought :p afterall, those polygonal babes are the only reason people buy those games. I thought Team Ninja might go for some mocap boobies to get some realism. I dunno. I guess not ( :?: )

DOA uses mocap for the moves, but everything else, like the clothing, hair and breasts are simulated.

It uses real-time inverse kinematics and class C2 interpolation for the animation. It's like other fighting games with regard to details like motion for clothing and accessories and all that, but the work has been hand-tuned especially well. The top fighting games are all really polished, though.
