BTW, there is a massive protest to stop the war scheduled for April 12th in front of the white house. :)

It's the displays of civic idiocy that irritate me. They're never timely, by definition.

Dont wanna bust any victory parties but are we sure the war is really over and Iraqi well wishers arent just shiites and kurds who relish the impending opportunity not only to loot but to visit unholy retribution to the sunnis? If the brits cant keep looting from going on in Basra with their 40 000 man contingent can there be any guarantees wholesale acts of reveng on sunnis wont be perpetrated while the other coalition forces are around?

We'll know soon enough... but then again until law and order are firmly reestablished Im not sure the 7 out of the 22 million Iraqis who are sunni will rest peacefully. Im not sure a parliamentary democracy will work here... even a less representative one will be hard for sunnis to accept with both kurds and shiites gunning for payback of some kind...

To be quite honest I really don't think the coalition forces are the right people to be enforcing law and order in Iraq. That would generate bad feeling faster than your can say "Imperialist Western Capitalist Pig-Dog".

Iraq needs a new police force, and it needs it quickly.

I hope that there is a legitimate voice for Iraq soon, so they can tell all the self serving arab leaders and muslim clerics to STFU.

What is it with these people urging resistance? Do they simply enjoy watching their "brothers" decend into chaos, or remain subjegated? Reading the media watch/listening post pages on the BBC and other papers that are reporting this just gets my blood boiling!

This loathsome war against Iraq is a war in which more bombs and weapons of destruction have been used than before in the history of mankind. It is a war against the Arabs. It is first a war against Arab honour and second a war to change the geographical map of the Arab nation.
Al-Arab al-Alamiyah - London

Are you that jealous of your own freedoms that you undermine the spread of it!?

The USA has declared war on Islam. The USA has perpetrated the worst terrorist crimes against Muslims in Iraq and Palestine.

Al-Watan - Qatar
Praise be to Allah that the home of Al Jazeera is thinking with a critical mind.

The hidden agenda of the aggressors against Iraq - as well as the deception of the world community with empty slogans calling for the liberation of Iraq, the dissemination of democracy and subsequent reconstruction - has begun to unravel.

Al-Wafd - Egypt
Yes, because Iraqi people expressing their happiness is a true sign of democracy failing.

AIIIIGH!

Like I said, I hope the Iraqi people put the smackdown on all these stupid fucks and their "righteous" indignation and accusations.

/off to smolder some more

I couldn't agree more. General Mushraff did exactly this in Pakistan. He came in and said, if you breed hate and brew trouble, I'll take away your loud speakers. Do it again and I'll take you away. Would be the gist of it.

Couldn't have worked better, mindless anti-american sentiment is at an all-time low there, but that doesn't stop the well thoughtout anti-american sentiment. ;)
