Metroid Prime Controls

Hi guys, new poster here, long time lurker, anyways...

Seems like the general consensus for the controls in metroid prime is that they suck. It frustrates the hell out of me when I want to straif a corner and it makes me wish the setup was like that of Time Splitters 2 or Halo.

Then I realized, in neither one of those games am I constantly jumping, turning and/or firing. When I think about it, Metroid would be hard, for me at least, trying to jump, aim and shoot, when my thum is on the C stick and pointer finger is on the analog shoulder button. You'd have to move your thumb off the stick and hit the jump button which just wouldn't work for metroid. I know in Halo at least I have hard time turning jumping, shooting, etc quake style. I deally, the game should be played with a keyboard and mouse combo, but thats not an option and so I think in the end, Retro did the right thing by going with that control scheme.

Oh yea, don't you think it would be hard fighting the wasp incinerator with all the jumping, aiming and shotting with a setup like Halo's?

What general consensus were you looking at?

As far as I can see, most people think they're perfect for the game's style (which you even get into! KUDOS!), with two exceptions on this board. :p

The general consensus? More like "2 or 3 guys per popular messageboard".. :)

I think that the controls are great for the game.

Have only played MP in store kiosks, so I can't critique its controls. But I can say that they are obviously not designed to provide FPS movement like Halo, making it apparent that the devs never intended MP to be considered an FPS. While MP certainly looks like an FPS, I think it's a mistake to go into the game expecting it to play like one.
