That was rather interesting. The fact that he left so early and because of the sexing up really surprises me.

Ah memories. I think I'm gonna plug my Videologic Apocolypse 3Dx into a PCI slot in my PC and play TR again. The game looks amazing on the PCX-1/PCX-2. Before i got the PCX-2, I also had a PCX-1 that ran at 60MHz that I tried to overlock by changing the occillator crystal. :devilish:

So is there next TR in work?

Yes, Crystal Dynamics is actually working on Tomb Raider 7 (After the TR:AOD debacle Eidos removed the TR developement from Core Design and gave it to Crystal Dynamics).

On a side note there's rumors about Warren Spector working on that project. Link to Shacknews

Indeed. I remember being a huge Tomb Raider fan back then and read up alot on Toby Gard. I loved the first part, even the second, but then with the 3rd it quickly went away. I gave 4 another try and then never even tried the following ones. With the audigy-2 card that I bought, I got a free copy of Tomb Raider (6?): Angel of Darkness and even gave that one a try and was very disappointed with just about everything of the game. It was just aweful and reminded me a bit more of Broken Sword with direct controls.

Heh, started playing Tomb Raider on the PC initially, but was then quite amazed by the PlayStation version which had all these extras and more cinematic effects (like music coming up when ever something big happened, like the first encounter with the T-Rex)! Yeah, I miss those times. I might have to install it again, just to experience it once more.

PC-Engine, do you have any screenshots of the Tomb Raider being played on that particular 3d card? Just curious... Thanks!

Well that seems unlikely now that Spector has left Ion Storm.

I can probably do some screen grabs if it's possible. I'd have to run it in a window or something. The A3Dx is a 3D only card so it has to work with a 2D card so I don't know if the normal *print screen* method will work. I've gotta look at the TR game and see if it has a built-in screen grab function. I gotta find a place to host the pics though. :)

My PCX-1 card doesn't work anymore because it fried after I changed the crystal. It worked for awhile. My PCX-2 card still works though so I'll install tommorow.

Actually the story about Warren Spector leaving Ion Storm Austin isn't clear at all. :D

About TR7, Warren Spector is supposed to work with Crystal Dynamics, without link to Ion Storm, IIRC.

I shared a Dreamcast GD-ROM burner with Cofounding factor. They used it for Galleon Dreamcast. That was 3-4 years ago.

I know about it at least 1-2 years before that.

Its been a VERY long time in production

Is there going to be a PC version? It seemed to be x-box exclusive from the article linked. :/ I did some searches on it and it sounds interesting (controlling the camera rather than the character is pretty clever), but I don't have an xbox.

Galleon had horrible review here in France
link 1 2 3

OTOH Edge gave it 7/10... The same rating that they gave to Starsky and Hutch :D

Thanks for sharing that anecdote Deano, BTW if i believe reviews the only difference with the time you shared with them a GD Rom burner and now, is that now they have a DVD burner... The game look like a DC game + AA.

Evedently Galleon is just around the corner this time, it still looks the same as it did 3 years ago.

Also as Vysez has shown it is out in some countries.

Another thing it isn't xbox exclusive, it could of been at some time but not any more.

Maybe I am overly critical of one shot, but it looks entirely unspectacular. The texture blurring is horrible, looking at the ground far away makes me feel as if I need to put on my glasses, and they're already ON!

Everything's single-textured and goraud shaded, not particulary polygon rich. At least that particular scene could be done on any of the major consoles today. Maybe on the N64 too! :p

Also, it highlights another problem that often appear in 3D graphics; that of scale. What's up with that DOOR, it seems to be like, three meters high or something. Is it a door for giants or something? Or for rolling enormous boulders out of, since it's so bloody wide too...

I remember in Duke Nukem, many levels had ceilings and doorways and other features that made me as a character feel about 150cm tall. So DN3D was amongst the more extreme there, but it really IS a big issue in many games. Scale is generally WAY off.

That screenshot is awful. there is NOTHING going for it. no shadows, crappy textures, cheesy lighting, no geometry complexity, there is nothing in there.

But it is shiny-shine.... ;)

Actually, you're not, Guden. :D

IIRC , the developers said that they choose the Xbox as the only platform for Galleon because... PS2 and GC couldn't "handle it". Confounding Factor (the developers) are such jokers.
