You can definately expect a Kameo sequel, if "Kameo: Elements of Power" warrants it according to Lead Designer George Andreas. According to a few others though, George and company are also gearing up to start work on a new "Banjo-Kazooie" title to follow up the first two titles that were on Nintendo 64 over four years ago. According to some employees, the title is in the planning stages, although not much work has actually been done so far.

INteresting

I figured we'd see a k.i soon , ms doesn't really have many exclusive fighting games , just doa and nothing that has fire balls and what not so this should help them there if its any good

Man i freaking LOVED Killer Instinct. Even had the Gameboy version (the first gameboy)...

The arcade had some insane graphics, they would totally rock in realtime 3D today. Though i'm not sure a 3D version of Killer Instinct would work. Call me old school but I like me 2D fighters in 2D and me 3D ones in 3D.

The almost infinite chain combos in KI was just dumb...

I'm pretty sure they could make a really close KI fighting game in 3D using UE3. ;)

They could make an u3-engine fighting game on DX9 that looks BETTER than the killer instincts. Those games were not very sophisticatedly pre-rendered, the characters look shiny and plasticy already so that's perfect for today's realtime hardware! :D

Classic gaming goodness!

The system that gets KI is going to be the next system in my shopping cart. Pronto.

Oh yeah, I'd like to see a new Cruis'n too, Midway!

lb: they could still make a 3D version of the 2D game, just use 3D models and render in real-time. ;) We must be at the level where we can have 2x100K polygon characters on-screen at 60fps that look extremely close to those pre-rendered...things in KI and KI2. I'd love it if they re-made KI and KI2 while making KI3.

They were only infinite if your opponent sucked and couldn't break them. The game relies on fast reaction times on the combos in order to stop them.

EDIT-The ultra was the combo that went on forever...ultimate was the one where you did the fatality during the end of it.

This ic coming from someone who owns a KI2 arcade machine ;)

Killer Instinct _ROCKED_. At one point I had an Ultra64 emulator with the original KI ROM (like 140 megs). That was pure nostalgic heaven! The KI fighting system was pretty cool and different for its time too, but I fear KI3 could turn out to be Tao Feng redux :S

Almost infinite -> ends at some point -> Ultimate Combo ;)

What are you talking about? N64 KI2 was 32MB ROM at most, if that much even. 140 meg sounds more like the arcade version, and much of that, if not most, are movies and not actual game gfx data...

KI2 was cooler than KI (though I missed Riptor...), but the lack of the combo announcement voices sucked! I believe that feature was dropped just so the reviewers wouldn't bitch about the feature not being present on the N64!

Considering KI2 was even worse than the original, and they've been away from THAT for a decade... I'm just hoping they tap some serious external talent.

At least it seems like game companies have realized that there just isn't room for mediocre fighting games. We've moved away from the days when everybody and their mom was crapping out fighting games left and right. I think if Rare decided to make a new KI, they'd do it right.

Well there's still SOME "left and right" left... I mean, Mortal Kombat games are actually selling again, right? ;)

First thing those rumors sounds like made-up crap. Every once in a while a B&K/KI sequel rumors appears, nothing new.

That said, if they don't turn B&K 3 into a total collectthon, it would be killer. B&K was among my favorite platformer in the 32/64bits era.

On the other hand, they should throw KI in the trash where it belongs. The only thing good about KI was the music.

And, a sequel to Kameo is maybe a little too early, seeing how the game still haven't been released.

Notice I said Ultra64, not Nintendo64, so yes - I was talking about the Arcade ROM set!

And KI2 sucked :p

I prefer the controls of KI2/Gold to KI, and everything just felt more polished. What I'd really hope for in a sequel is the sense of dark atmosphere that was so well conveyed in the first game. The announcer's voice and music played a big part in all of that.

I have that Ultra 64 emulator and both KI and KI2 ROMs. It's great being able to play them perfectly at home. Just wish the videos could be automatically run at normal speed.
