The success of Naughty Dog’s Jak & Daker: The Precursor Legacy left little doubt a sequel was an eventuality, and next Monday, Gaming Age has learned Sony plans to official announce the title. Jak & Daxter 2 will be shown to the press, and it is expected SCEA will release details to the public.
Action nuts should expect an announcement on the next Syphon Filter installment soon, though it is not expected to be shown at next Monday's event. SCEI dropping hints on its online capabilities during a Japanese conference are just the beginning. Look for the full scoop in the near future.

Look for more updates on Jak & Daxter 2 and Syphon Filter as filters out.

Don't know about you guys, but I've been waiting for a sequel since the completion of the first part which is my favorite platformer to date. :)

i've always been puzzled on whether to get J&D or R&C...... and ended up getting neither of them....... just hope J&D2 supports prog-scan...... im already spoiled by The Getaway and Primal in pro-scan mode..... and it's only been 24 hours since i got the BLAZE VGA adaptor.....

Personally, I enjoyed J&D better, because I just loved the controls and the way you had a whole world to discover. Many would probably agree though that R&C may be the better game because it's longer and is more fun because of the weapons which makes it all the more attractive.

I'd still get J&D more... the humour and controls are spot on. He, best to get both on second thought. Can't go wrong :)

Monday heh? Interesting...can't wait to see the new Syphon Filter. They need to bring it back to greatness, like they did with TM :)

more infos:

In a seminar labeled "Doin' It Again - the Ins and Outs of Sequels" at the Academy of Arts and Sciences' D.I.C.E. Summit in Las Vegas last week, Naughty Dog founder and co-president Jason Rubin spoke of the next installment in the Jak & Daxter franchise.
Talking openly about the ups and downs of working on The Precursor Legacy, Rubin admitted that Naughty Dog often doesn't achieve its ultimate vision until a sequel or two into the franchise, citing the Crash series as a perfect example. "We set out to make [our ideal Crash] game and then work at it until we make it right," said Rubin. "Crash 3 was that game for us."

"There is [that ideal] Jak & Daxter game that we want to make," he continued, "we just never reach it until the second or third game."

As for what to expect from Jak & Daxter 2, Rubin hints at a potentially darker sequel, with weapons as a probable addition. "There is no question that this new title is reacting and maturing to the market," he admitted.

Although SCEA has yet to officially announce Jak & Daxter 2, Gamers.com can confirm that the game will arrive this fall.

more to come at E3...

8) Wow, this is my most hyped up game.. can't wait!!

 That's just great. Catering to the mainstream casual market and make J & D a GTAVC or Getaway clone of a platformer.

Heh, cartoons are not mass market force like they used to be. Heck, these days even Disney has trouble selling their concepts and movies. Even *kids* seem to be somewhat uniterested by colorful, cartoony style...

Anyways, I'm pretty sure they will not make anything like GTA games. Not with characters they have designed for J&D. Weapons seem only natural addition in their next game given how fun they were to use in R&C. R&C had tons of weapons, and I don't think anyone could say it was any worse game because of that, or that it was close to GTA in it's style or execution.
