I have no info on what system this thing runs on... In case PSP fails to take off as a game console and a movie player, Kutaragi Ken could rip this off and sell it on PSP for 1/3rd the price that Sony charges...

...

This... is a Sony product. So your saying they would rip off themselves?
Exactly, this is a Sony product. And Kutaragi already announced a rival GPS navigation system on PSP. So you have a good idea of what SCEI's system will look like.

Since Sony's XYZ is priced around 160,000 ~ 210,000 Yen, SCEI's PSP navigation system priced around 70,000 ~ 100,000 Yen would destroy its business, like how SCEI's PSX2 destroyed Sony's DVD player business by being 10,000 Yen cheaper than Sony's cheapest DVD plater model. Not to mention the fact that PSP has anti-aliasing, while XYZ doesn't...

This is the stupidest comment I have ever heard on this site. Deadmeat, you are an idiot, a troll, and I really wish you'd just shut up. The world would be a better place.

psp specs

I don't get the impression that it will be available at launch.

I should mention that the bit about gps is at the very bottom.

I think Deadmeat is on to something here.
Imagine persistant online world of GTA in GPS space where you don't use controller but move yourelf instead to go around :D
And furthermore, other people with their PSPs are virtual character on PSP also, with jobs that can be just like their real jobs. And interaction is as real as it gets too, if you beat them up and turn of their PSP they 'die'. Of course you can do "other" stuff to them too...
The ultimate blend of virtual and real comes together. No longer will we know what is real or virtual at all... did I just slap that hooker around for real while that cop was watching me or was it just her PSP that fell out of her hand?

Ok so I am suffering serious sleep deprivation :p

 Kutaragi Ken promised us we'd jack into the Matrix with Playstation, and Faf and Deadmeat deliver!

Quick question for DM: Shouldn't you be referring to the PSP as the PSXP, based on the nomenclature you've adopted elsewhere?

Bit of a b&gger if the "place to be" in VR corresponds to a RoadRunner-like cliff in RL :)

Or a large body of water... ;)

Interesting idea, but of marginal feasibility, just like the business model of many IT ventures. ;)

A personal, handheld, gps-driven, 3D visual-based, with WLAN/hotspot-updated-up-to-the-minute information would be awesome. Anyone tried to find a address in urban or suburban Tokyo? I did, even the local postman was not able to help me ... that app above, would be worth killing for in situations like that :D

PS: Yes, I maded it on my own, after a 2 hour search and 3-4 convenience store clerk interviews

Isn't that a street in "Shenmue"?
Donno, but if it helps: I took the picture in Sasazuka, it's in front of the house, that I was looking for. Urban Tokyo looks pretty much like that, no matter where you go ... it's like a maze.

or rather in Ju'on?? :devilish:

BTW on to Deadmeat. I have to ask here....is he a human?? I mean he never shows any emotions...his righting pattern is same always...and some ;) of his posts make no-sense at all...and his nomencleture(PSX1,PSX2,PSX3 etc)....seems impossible to be that a human could constantly post like this for so long. He is possibly an AI program (like Colonel in MGS2 :D ), who is designed to search internet for anything related to Playstation, CELL, PSP etc and post all negetive on B3D console forum.

Now what do you think about this theory of mine?
