Is GFFX the same as GF3?

Remember how GF3 was slower than GF2Ultra for several months until they released Det 3? Does anyone think its possible that GFFX will be greatly improved in speed in ~4-5 months with new drivers?

In any case, the GFFX performance is thoroughly disappointing, especially given the poor image quality of their AA/AF solutions. =(

My short answer re speeds - yes.

Re: AA - xS modes are very useful in older games and sims/racers.

The big disappointment is 4x OG MSAA, 2xRGMS I think is a screen capture issue. The lack of real improvemnt in efficient, >= 4x AA modes was known about since November and hence one reason I already purchased the 9700pro - so not a surprise at all really.

it may just be a hardware problem that drivers wont fix. I believe that the card is performance is almost in line with its specs. I wouldn't expect to see to much diffrence.

BoddoZerg - yes, good point - i kinda see it the same way.

I see GFFX as like the TNT and the GF3 - both offered new architecture but missed their performance goals, or what people expected. the refreshes of both (TNT2 and GF4Ti) were outstanding, thus i expect the GFFX2 (NV35) to be similar with Nvidia's history.

It's not the same because now it's like if ATi had released the R8500 to go head to head with the original GF3.
