Indiana Jones is entirely physics-based?

With a physics based movement system (as opposed to a reaction system for destruction), would there have to be probability calculations to determine player environment interactions?

EG, what is the probability that Indiana will trip over a rock, versus a fallen tree trunk? Is it based on the dimensions of the object that Indy is interacting with? Its composition? (mossy, decomposed, craggy, rough?)

The probability of me stubbing my toe increases the more I drink. So is there an attribute stamina/agility/constitution meter that will state (even if only in the engine's backend) that will say Indy can make that jump and hold on or not based on physics at his stamina/agility/constitution level?
