I present to you the scariest console game possible!!!

Xbox port of part one was cool, Konami should learn a thing or two about porting from Tecmo.
Like what? Xbox port of FF was barely enhanced, and had some additional content. Pretty much the same deal Konami did with SH2...

I bought my copy of Zero recently, and it was a PlayStation 2 the Best series cheap version, X-Box version is really cheap, too. But I hadn't even considered it as there is no Action Replay code for me.

And anyway, I know I really can't stand the atmosphere even I turned the volume all the way down and just looking at the screen. Too much for me. It can only be a collection item for me.

On the other hand, for Silent Hill 3, I have finished the Brookhaven hospital part and going to finish it. There are certainly some disturbing scenes, but I have no problem with the visual disturbances in SH3.

And BTW, the graphics in SH3 is truely great after spending 10+ hours with the game (I progress very slowly).

 The game is scary ya not? 8)

the correct phrase for the original is that is is creepy I guess. the ghost story motif in japanese horror is a common ocurrence.

so FF can be considered a chost tale with a shtload of claustraphobia (story is rather standard fare).

the SH series (pariticluarly SH2) tries to appeal to 'horror and revoltion' at the human condition rather than producing adreneline, so their cheif aim to not to scare but provoke digust at the protagonist/scenario.

I am sorry but your comparision here (for me at least) does not apply and claiming superiorty for FF be degrading another (non-simiilar) title is falliciouse at best.

not to say you didn't enjoy the game tho ( as I obviousely did) just remember that most off hand comparisons fail to get across the differences in Quality/execution of a alot of titles.

thank you for your time and good night.

FF had more scares than the hackfest of a Silent Hill2

Ummm, no. That's like saying the haunted mansion at Disneyworld is more scary than being told you have cancer.

andreleline rush and survival reactions vs (or rather as an alternate) internal realisation of death and thus the horror of an unavoidable fate?

..........sure why not :)

WTF are you people on about?

Sorry but FF/Project Zero IS recognised by most INTELLIGENT gamers as being the most atmospheric of the survival horror games.

The gore fest is RE and the halfway house is SH (Just the SH games have the most stupid stories)

The person who said there were virtually no changes between the Xbox version and the PS2 version of FF obviously HASNT played the game on the Xbox then.

I have the Xbox version, I rented the PS2 version to see the difference.

First off the Xbox version has clearer and in some instances more detailed texures, Jaggies have been removed (I suppose by subtle use of FSAA), the sound has been improved with more effects and 5.1, There is more dialogue, more levels etc.

So how is that not an improvement?

I

are you implying that those of us that seperate the game are morons then?

works well doing what it does (trapped in haunted house scenario).

well to be fair RE from 1 onwards never tried to be anything elkse but a gore fest and sub par B movie experience.

stupid of not SH theme makes a change from the norm (sorta) which is always refreshing.

probably pick up the Xbox version on release.

I have to take pictures of ghosties to be intelligent??? You might as well say Pac-Man was the scariest game ever (hey, it had ghosts right?)

I would refer to the execution of the scenario to be resonably intelligent yes (plot as I have said is rather standard fare).

apart from some predictable cheap shocks, the claustraphobic feeling works well and keeps the pace going with the threat of continued attacks.

summary: it a ghost story no more no less.

As i have said, there is nothing silly with taking pictures. Ghosts and photos go hand in hand since the beginning of time. Not to mention, It is better fun taking pictures than hacking at monsters too. ;)

Man, you kill yourself with your very first comment

Will it make me more intelligent if I scream that word like you do?

The person who said there were virtually no changes between the Xbox version and the PS2 version of FF obviously HASNT played the game on the Xbox then.
And who was that person again? What I said was:

Xbox port of FF was barely enhanced visually, and had some additional gameplay content. Pretty much the same deal Konami did with SH2...
I consider slightly clearer textures and slightly less jaggies to be 'barely enhanced visuals'. Also, notice the 'additional gameplay content' in the first sentence. I guess you felt you should be fighting against windmills today, no?

sure but it was a port (almost literally) so I can;t see how we can complain. frankly anyone expecting RE:remake levels of improvement are kidding themselves as thats an entire project on it's own.

For me to be happy with a PS2 -> Xbox port, all I really ask for is true DD5.1, sharpened up graphics, great framerate & controls, and to stamp out any seriously irritating quirks from the original (say, the lack of a difficulty setting in the original D2R, or crapass cameras, etc).

Excellent example of this is Pro Race Driver.. 5.1 sound, upgraded graphics (big time), and increasing the # of cars on the track from 8 to 20 (!). AFAIK, they also tweaked the physics and AI based on PS2 user feedback. Surprisingly, the PC version was quite a different (and shitty) beast from the Xbox game.. totally different handling, AI, etc.

Most of the time though, DD5.1 is enough to sell me on the XB version.

Seconded, I would like to add full framebuffer height 480p (where it applies) and some AA where absent from the original. although I recognise that this is most difficult for some ports. wouldn't say no to increased texture resolutions either.

That's not what I said.
I said you have to be intelligent to recognise games for their qualities rather than saying something is crap because it doesn't suit you.
Maybe I should have elaborated further but I didn't see it as being neccessary.

Obviously I should have elaborated further.

did you read what I put?

"First off the Xbox version has clearer and in some instances more detailed texures, Jaggies have been removed (I suppose by subtle use of FSAA), the sound has been improved with more effects and 5.1, There is more dialogue, more levels etc. "

What did you expect? A complete remake like the resident evil games?

It's the same generation of console that it has been ported from - This is pretty much the best that any company will do in a port.
It does look considerably better than the PS2 version, it does sound better etc.

Now now, lets not be unintelligent! SH2 had a very deep intricate plot, FF felt more like an episode of Nickelodeons "Are You Afraid of the Dark". Sure people have different tastes, if you like FF then great, but to say it had a better plot than SH1/2 is ridiculous. It just had a simpler, easier to understand plot. Easier to understand does not always mean better...

No, but you see, I didn't say FF Xbox port was not improved at all, like you replied, so maybe you should have read what I said first. I said the improvements were small and comparable to what Konami did with their SH2 port, which I still stand by, while Chap insinuated how Tecmo did better job compared to Konami.
