How do game shows payout their money?

Regular
Do game shows, i.e. jeopardy, wheel of fortune etc. pay all the money up front or do they pay it off over time like the lottery?

dending on the amount. If a small amout, immidiate payout. Large ones, over time. A bunch of small ones, bunch of small payouts(might just right one check). Taxes are usually deducted from amount given to player. If you win a prize other than money, they usually give you the option of getting money based on a % of the retail value instead of the actual prize.

In UK it's usually 1 cheque - and it's tax free
Even the "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?" £1,000,000 cheque is paid straight to the winner.

Don't forget: Any winnings over a certain amount must be reported as income, and is taxed accordingly. Also in many cases, prizes that are not cash may have a cash option, meaning instead of that weeklong stay at the El Bano hotel in Beautiful Mexico you may take the cash equivelent instead.
