Help with P-Scan PS2 games using a Monitor

well london-boy, I can only speak for my equipment here and if you believe it or not, the difference is at best minor. Upon being close to the screen, I admit, a difference is vissible in sharpness. That's about the only difference I can spot though. Interlaced artefacts are very minimal on my TV btw, in fact, I can press pause while watching a DVD movie and the picture presented is as crisp and sharp as presented by my monitor. Of course turning up the sharpness would result in more aliasing and artefacts, I don't really have my TV on those settings anyway. Lives longer too. ;)

BTW; speaking of artefacts, do you have white artefacts using P-scan aswell? Getaway has some on my monitor, especially when driving through the streets of london.

the only game with those artifacts is The Getaway, and i really don't know why that is. yes, it's only on driving section, i don't recall seeing artifacts in on foot sections or while being inside buildings... weird...

Thanx! Guess I'll ending up with a Linux-Kit for the PS2 and a modified component cable for the GC.

Googled a nice modification instruction up:

GC RGB:

GC VGA
Sorry no luck yet, could someone help out?

I ordered my GCN VGA cable from here:

http://www.gamestech.com/Gcube/gcube.htm

Scroll to the bottom for the cables.

Is this the one you ordered? - http://www.gamestech.com/Gcube_info/Gcube_Cable_Card/VGA_cable/cable.htm

If so, does it work straight off the bat? I thought you needed a transcoder to convert to an RGB compatible signal for VGA, or does the GC support RGB VGA natively?

I ask because I'm in the market for a GC VGA box/cable (have a VGA compatible TV, no component), and a PS2 one for that matter.

How do they rank in terms of quality?

VGA > Component > RGB?

All three can do pro-scan and the HDTV resolutions, correct?

They are exactly equivalent. VGA and RGB differs only in the connector,
the signals are the same. Component is just a different color space (YUV instead of RGB) but quality wise makes no difference.

well to be precise, VGA is superior by default because it's natively progressive scan. but if u're talking about VGA - PROSCAN component and PROSCAN RGB then there should be no difference...
