It has seemed so long since Hard Forum has been up, I believe it has been about a month? Anyone know if it is coming back like, soon? Thanks in advanced...

haha, yea for awhile there the forums, well video cards part, was a total flame fest. But I would still like it to come back  . Heres to hoping...

It would be nice to have it back. Didn't it pop up for a few days, then go down? Or am I thinking of some other site?

More like it was up for about 15 minutes and went down, just long enough for a few peeps to see it and start posting that it was back up...then down again it went.

No biggy to me, I think I've been banned from there about 3 times now.

I say good riddance.

That place was never anything other than a refuge for fanboys and people considering themselves "hard", or in other words nerdy computer geeks with a mean streak and an abusive way of expressing themselves (and generally with a degrading view of women, I might add).

God... Never visited the site, but from that description, it doesn't sound like a very nice place to be in...

Now where will all those f@nboiz go? Here? ;)

Anybody else notice that the signal-to-noise ratio on the rest of the internet has gone down since it closed?

I think u just need to move the aerial. Might have been knocked down by the wind...

signal noise ratio here has been getting a bit weaker here lately...

Not that it would be a big problem yet, but it might be the case in the future.

(naah, Nappe1 is just jellous to Chalnoth, HellBinder and Radar1200gs, because he does have nothing left to be a real fan boy anymore...)

but remember, THEY WILL DELIVER! :devilish: :devilish: MUHAHAHAAHHHAHAHAAA! :devilish:

I actually enjoyed the time I spent at the [H] forums. And if you strayed away from the idiots whom did happen to wander there quite often most of the topics discussed were rather interesting. I for one learned a lot from the people at [H] and I hope they come back soon.

I enjoyed hardforums as well. I've been with them for several years (I survived the great reindexing of 2002, or whenever that was), and I enjoyed teh variety that they had. However, I also agree that nothing very "hard" was happening, and in my opinion, that is the direction that the site owners had gone. I feel like hardocp and the forums have completely changed directions since I became a fan. I started out in the time when it was like "We're so hard, we're gonna watercool an xbox even though its completely not necessary!" to the site that it is now, where articles are about some new developements, and reviews, and most disappointingly, all the wasted time about the most effective and moral way to benchmark. I visited them because of things like the water cooled xbox, the cryofreezer (which eventually left), and other similar projects. [H] has gone a ways down the road now to becoming {s}oft, and I don't think they will be changing.

The forum, though it is filled with fanboys, and 200000000 threads like "6800u rulzzz x800 drullzz...", reposts of everything the Inquirer posts, and other "noise" has helped me with several problems. However, it has lost its appeal in my mind, and if it did come back up, I'm not sure I would spend an hour a day there anymore like I used to.

I actually fully agree with your post. Most of it is fanboys who have no clue what they are talking about. But I do miss Brent's posts alot, I really did learn alot from his posts. He just seems to know everything about video cards. In addition, their audio forum was decent and very helpful. Moreover, their Programing and SMP forums weren't bad either. I wish it return soon, the Steam forums are getting quite boring... ...

I agree. Now that you mention stuff, I must say, I will miss posts from people like Brent, STL, and FLECOM. Especially the people in networking. I will miss the people that always had constructive posts, and posts that brought up questions or answered questions. Posts that were meaningful every time, not simply meaningless posts that argue (My word is law: required reading http://www.bit-tech.net/column/11/ ) about things that have no correct answer. Things that don't really matter.

I used to be a part of the [H]orde. Still have borged machines running, however, I don't feel like putting effort into a community of people described in the column above. If I ever go back, it will be because of people like relic. So I guess I need a new team to fold for. Does B3D have a folding team (I'm new here)?
