Gametrac handheld console shown at CEBIT

The thing's smaller than my wallet, so I think it can fit in a pocket. It's thinner than a folded up GBA SP, which is a bigger plus for me than the smaller surface area the SP has. I hate having alot of crap in my pockets to begin with anyway, though, and so that may explain the lack of the appeal of the SP to me.

Sorry but that design looks pretty ugly. It looks like they used the same designers who designed the GG. I really like the price though. This should give us a clue as to the pricing of GBA2.

why do i have the feeling this thing is a last generation pocketPC in a funny case?...

Because it is. ;)

Although, it is using a "new" CPU to PPCs. Samsung doesn't have a 400Mhz ARM9 for PPC use yet.

BTW, after going through the entire Gametrac website, I'm further convinced that the GPU is strictly 2D like the Imageon W4200 in Zodiac. All three games they have announced is running Fathammer's XForge engine.

aha. that should give clues about the battery life ..i'm affraid Mfa's comment hit the nail on the head

I wonder why they even bother... Now mobile freaking phones will have Nvidia 3D chips on them, what's the point of this thing?

Surely you mean PowerVR 3D chips? ;)

The SP looks much better IMO, especially the silver SP. This new handheld looks ok, but pretty much just like a big GBA. That last design you posted looked aweful though IMO.

I'm a little puzzled by this new handheld. They're using a 400MHZ ARM9 yet they aren't using MBX (which can come built into ARM9 processors). They could have halfed the speed of the CPU, put in a MBX core and had much better graphics quality and AI and probably with lower power consumption. I really would be excited about this new handheld if it had good low power 3D hardware. But I just can't get excited about another standard handheld rendering everything in software.. not when we'll have mobile phones soon with MBX/NV 3D built in.

Hmmm.... now where have I heard that spec before.... ;)
