Free Rip can't detect my CD-ROM

It was working properly till other day, but last night it suddely failed to detect my CD-drive. Then I downloaded and installed the latest ASPI driver for win XP, still it failed to detect it. Otherwise my CD-ROM is working all right, it does play CDs. What do I do? I am sure that the problem is with the ASPI driver....btw how to find out whther my CD-ROM is SCSI or IDE?

256 MB DDR (PC2100)
40 GB HDD (7200 RPM)
LG 52X CD-ROM

But I believe it is a driver problem, something to do with ASPI driver, it still plays other CDs...it is only when I use Free Rip mp3 converter, that it fails to detect the CD-ROM.

IIRC, that motherboard is based on an Nforce 1 chipset. Did you by any chance install some Nvidia drivers recently, including the Nvidia IDE drivers? If so, reinstall without those drivers so that it uses the default MS IDE drivers.
