Final Fantasy XV [XO, PS4, PC]

Oh wow, thanks! I think I got that Umbra or whatever it is, but somehow missed how to use it. I will check when I boot up the game next time.

PS: Once you complete the game; what is the incentive to keep playing and "upleveling"? Are there like extreme foes still out there that make the exploration worth it? I.e. in FFVII you could hunt the weapons that were completely optional and incredibly strong to beat. Is there anything like this in FFXV?

Sort of. Remember the Locked Doors by the end of some dungeons? You get a quest from the old lady from Hunters HQ with a key to open them. You have to have completed every optional dungeon in the game as well to unlock it. I still have to do the last of the locked dungeons since you cannot use items on it, greatly increasing the difficulty of it. One of those dungeons also took me more than 4 hours to finish and by the end of it I was running out of items, so it forced me to be way more strategic. And oh, there is a dungeon without monsters that is basically a very hard but enjoyable platform game, besides giving you lots of Oracle coins and nice gear. It is only accessible with the flying version of the Regalia.

No prob. Someone here said it was possible to go back to Lucis after entering chapter 9, but they were too vague about it so I too went up to Ch.14 without actually knowing how to do that and constantly trying to figure it out.
It's best to just tell how without going around in circles and hoping the person finally gets it. I didn't pay enough attention to the Umbra explanations when they appeared to me, so I though it meant going back to the past but obviously not being able to level up or get new items.. because time paradox etc.
I only got what "going back" actually meant when I read about the issue in the internets.

Yes, there are completely new boss battles with different huge creatures as you step up your Hunter level.
Regalia F is a very good incentive as you'll access almost any spot in Lucis within moments without a loading screen. Seriously, the F-Type should've been made available mid-game and not after beating it. What a waste of an excellent idea.
Leveling up becomes quite fast if you use Umbra to go to Altissia's Maahgo restaurant, eat the "earn 2x EXP" meal, use Umbra again to go to Lucis to grind a bit during a couple of IRL hours (or in-game days), and then use Umbra to go to Altissia and use the lodging that gives you 3X EXP points. I'm using 3 Moogle Charms on Noctis on top of that too, lol.

Different weapons are unfortunately very scarce in FFXV. I thought I'd be able to find at least a different elemental damage perk for weapons of each class, but I found no such thing an ended up using the Thunderbolt Greatsword for like 80% of the whole game.
What you do get is the chance to find more Royal Arms after you beat the game. I rarely used Royal Arms in the game (except for Armiger specials) because I never thought draining my HP during a battle would be a good idea. Even less considering I got Thunderbolt rather early in the game.

Type f does available before completing the game. Forgot at what chapter tho.

Btw does square have any plan for fixing the frame pacing on PS4? Or improve the image quality?

I just tried platinum demo a few days ago and it looks so much clearer than v1. 03 ffxv

Thanks Picao84!

If that is the case, it does feel rather short for a FF game. I remember FFVII - IX as amazing big games in scope. X and X-II were also rather long (but felt less so, due to the linearity). I guess FFXV is similar to Witcher and others, where the main plot is rather short, but there is a lot of content put into the side quest. Unfortunately, as much as I like doing hunts or going here and there for a photo-quest, I really do miss the scope of say the old Final Fantasys back on the PSone...

Anyway, do you recommend completing the game with my lvl38-42 characters and then "come back" or to simply prolong it and "go back in time" to complete all the side quests first?

The short and rather scattershot nature of the main quest rubbed me the wrong way as well. And it hasn't been that long since FF games were epic either. Really no need to go back to the PSone era here. FFX was still a 60+ hours game and FFXII was an absolute behemoth. And love it or hate it, FFXIII was also a very lenghty game with a metric ton of unique content.

The story was supposed to be longer and more complete. They just ran out of time and management did not allow them to postpone launch further. It seems there is a big update coming that will revamp the story a bit.

Seems like the continent of Niflheim is already in the game as well. Players managed to access it via a glitch.

Most of it are simple stuff. But cartanica are completely modeled, including the roads and moving cars.

Heck, altissia is completely modeled but blocked off for some reason... Blargh.

Cmon square, release it on pc, we will complete the game for you (just, please, don't remove the disabled contents).

Btw in update 1.02 or 1.03 square added more roads in cartanica.

Dunno it's a delineate move for future update or they simply forgot the disabled flag.

It becomes available after completing the 3 Imperial bases

It didn't become available to me before I finished the game, so the 3 bases are probably not the only requirement.
Actually, to me I think it appeared after I did the stupid Catoblepas Brisket mission.

Seems more likely that it would be Cindy's missions you would have to have completed though? Who knows though. Might go through the game again doing everything available at each stage without progressing the story.

I really like it. Thank god for no goddamn filler!

From the linked article,

When you get to Chapter 15, you’ll have the option to make Umbra warp you back to Lucis. Doing this will give you a quest called Into Unknown Frontiers. Once you’ve got it, go talk to Cindy at Hammerhead Garage. She’s going to be thrilled with what you’ve brought her, and will ask you to wait a bit. In truth, the upgrades will be ready right away. You won’t be able to recognize the resulting vehicle.

So no one is right, not chapter 8 and not post game either.

Not bragging but as a FF15 platinum holder I devoured this game inside out and you 100% cannot upgrade the car until you finish the story.
As soon as you do and you get the option to go back to the main area. If you already have the items, upon returning to Lucia you will immediately get a message saying something along the lines of Go to Cindy, she has a surprise.
Go and upgrade. You simply cannot do it before you finish the story.
I also read all sorts of different stories online and I tried 100 times to do it before finishing the story, you just can't.

This looks fun

Edit: Uneven frame pacing is absent from the trailer as well, they might have fixed it.
