He's a character, clearly, but somehow he usually hits the right note. Most of his videos are not that funny, but some are pretty amusing. And of course the constant dynamic of gullible people who think he is real adds to it.

I couldn't even finish that. Apparently there's a plethora of "kids behaving badly" type videos when they kick and scream when they don't get what they want, and I couldn't finish those either.
This nation is in serious trouble.
People who win the lottery and people who lose their leg in an accident are about as happy if you visit them 6 months on(!). There's some great talks at TED that really hammer this point home. It's not just sour grapes; the brain really does synthesize happiness like that.
