What's wrong with youtube these days?

I get totally crappy performance almost every time I try to watch a clip no matter which time of day it is.

Every once in a while I stumbled on a video that didn't want to load and I figred it was just some server that had crapped out or something. But this appears systemic in nature.

Is it MPAA that's secretly DDOSing them?

Maybe your suspicion is not that far off the mark. I read that there's a Firefox extension that accelerates streaming off youtube via muliple threads. You can imagine what kind of strain that must put on their servers if people with 16Mbit conncections (ab)use it.

I don't think some obscure FF plugin is enough to bring youtube to its knees.

Btw that "little gem" of yours sucked! The video sucked and the people in it sucked. The music sucked (and the sound was distorted and thus sucked too).

I want my 3 mins and 20 secs back.

This is a thread about the best youtube videos. Not some obscure pseudo-philosophical nonsense accompanied by dischordian random guitar notes played by some no-talent halfwit. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give that video a -3.

It seems that instead of streaming, it's caching the whole movie clip. I've seen it happen before... then it switches back to streaming. And now it's back to caching the whole thing.
