Doom3 release date set?

GDC 2004 is near the end of March, tho... Would almost be cooler to line up launch and appearance. ^_^ Retailers have conflicting info: EB still says 4/14/2004, while Amazon says 3/1/2004 (which it also says for HL2 
so I don't think they're doing anything but setting arbitrary date approximations) Gamestop doesn't give a specific date, but it and EB are the "Pre-order Doom 3" sites linked on the official site, so it's up to us to decide if their information is any more valid than others. Certainly Spong is not the ultimate source of solid information.

Are Gamespot and Gamestop associated? I mean they ARE anagrams, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

The run gameinformer though which is a pretty decent mag. Its free with a 10$ 10% off discount card on used games.
Best Buy already has pre-sell boxes of Doom 3. I asked one of the guys who worked in their media department and they couldn't give me a solid release date. It would sure be nice to get a demo of the game soon. I would beplaying that left and right. I have a fear that I might not be playing consoles that much as soon as Half Life 2 is released and then Doom 3.
www.amazon.co.uk says the date is Feb. 27 for both the pc and xbox versions.

means, MS "offered" them cash to keep it exclusive. Doesn't mean the deal happened. And it could be exclusive from other consoles or exclusive from PC. The former is much more likely, the latter is just impossible. Not after the whole R300/NV30 issue, and Carmack's press conferences, and the compatibility and the whole PC-focused discussions.
