Dixon's Group to drop GC support (UK)

Does Dixons carry the GBA? if they do, then this is a very bad move for them. Nintendo could always decide to flex their muscle and cut Dixons off from GBA supplies. The threat of losing the sales of the most popular game machine in the world has got to give the Big N some bargaining power for sure.

I'll read and reply to your post sometime tommorow when I have some time. Right now I just want to reply to this comment at the start:

Teasy, I really don't know how you could argue something like this. Having your product avaible in less stores is bad no matter how you think of it.

How can you say that when I just said, in the post you replied to:

Dixons dropping GC will definitely have some effect on GC sales yeah.

If this happens it will definitely be bad, obviously

I'm arguing on how much effect this would have on sales. I'm not saying that this is not a negative thing, as you can see from the quotes above.

I won't get into the pointless speculation why Dixon's decided to do this especially when Zelda and MP are so close to launch.

My biggest fear for the GCN is not just how many sales will be directly lost from it no longer being carried by Dixon's, but rather the negative perception this could have on the general public even when shopping at other stores.

I could see parents thinking that the GCN is dead and thus refuse to buy it for their kids. Certainly hope I'm wrong though.

when did dixons stop carrying the DC ?
were they as rude w/ this console as they are with the GC now ?

IMO it looks as a case of hard "negotiation" b/w dixons and nintendo.

Funny how they stuck it out with Xbox as it was being consistently outsold by the GCN for months, but the minute the going gets tough for the GCN they drop em like a rock.

Even funnier is how, according to a story up tonight on the same site the original poster quoted, GCN outsold Xbox this week.

well, Xbox took the lead by cutting $100 off the price and throwing in free games, that can work both ways, in a way, Dixons is responsible for GC's rise in sales
