I haven't been paying much atention to PC gaming for some time(OK, XB gaming too), and is thus quite surprised to stumble onto this:

And gamespot reported something about this as well. What happened? I remember years ago when the first was released, it received high commendations all around. This seems like a very sore thing to have happened. Anyone have it yet.

I've played the demo, and while I can ignore most of the dumbing down in the gameplay, the AI is just too bad. Even on the hardest difficulty, I was able to lock pick a door a guard was...well guarding with only a warning, then waited till his back was turned(which probably wasn't even necessary) and hack a computer, and then proceed to shoot the guard multiple times without any response. Oh, I was also able to play with the guards on the rooftop, by shooting a canister which then let out flames, and firing bullets(which the guard would follow like the metal gear solid guards) until he walked right into the flames and died. There were tons of other AI problems as well, which is the main problem for me, sure I can solve problems in many different ways, but why bother when there is one best way and no punishment for anything else? It almost feels like playing by myself since the AI seems so uninterested in anything I do, I may as well just use my imagination and go play with some boxes or something in real life.

From whats been said, sounds like its been dumbed down to suite consoles.. errr, a console.

I couldn't play the demo on mah poor compy, but I remember the AI from the original DE not being great shakes either. I was kinda hoping they'd improve on that a LOT, considering DE's whole purpose is to cover a broad range of gaming styles--and good AI is needed to make a valid experience of them all.

Considering DE became my favorite game almost the instant I started playing it, I've had high hopes for Invisible War, but... <shrugs> Dunno, it seems like there just hasn't been enough advancement since the first other than graphically. Have to see more about it...

I'd say the AI is probably worse than the original, maybe on par, but it is too leniant on the player this time, before it would almost immediately assume the player was an enemy and start tracking them down, now it assumes like everything was an accident or something, and doesn't make much of an effort to find the player, really out of sight out of mind.
