Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 [XBSX|S, PC, PS5, XGP] F/JRPG

Finished the game and going through end game bosses etc. The few final hours and ending are just mind blowing. What's there to say that hasn't been said already?

One thing - there seems to be a bug where the health tints don't upgrade with the 'shape if health'. So my health flask is still small even though I've upgraded it. Oh well, not a major thing and I'm sure it will be fixed.

Also the menus, inventory etc could be a little easier to manage! Also! I don't think the HDR is HDRing and I've seen reports that the game seemingly doesn't really support it, which is insane in this day and age.

Having said that, best game I've played in such a long time.

don't know if it's the same issue you're talking about, but with the "new" character i get that issue, my stats are showing a certain amount of health (say 400) and is full, but when i start a fight his health is like 200/400 at the beginning.

So it seems that there are pictos and weapons that give you some power but remove part of your energy.
My equiped sword make my character start each fight with 50% energy

Yeah, different weapons have passive effects which can be good or bad.. and is just another way to build characters around certain play styles.

But I want to clear out everything before I start a NG+. So much to do and so many different locations and secret bosses, it's insane how cheap this was.

The game looks great and runs well on my 4070 + 13600K. All max settings 1440p DLSS Quality keeps to the 60fps cap I set. I don't notice any of the hallmark UE5 problems. I do wish it supported framegen though I can see why they wouldn't want to add any latency given how the combat works.

This to me is fulfilling the promise of UE5. I don't think a small studio like Sandfall could do anything like this on its own. And since they know what they're doing and have properly limited the scope, there aren't stutters all over the place. Kind of like Hellblade 2 except it's fun.

Also I installed a mod to loosen the parry timing. It feels right to me on Story difficulty, but that makes everything super easy. The mod I installed makes the parry timing on Expedition the same as Story but keeps everything else the same. I genuinely don't think this would've been necessary for me 10 years ago. My reaction times have noticeably slowed since I turned 30.

I'm all for modding things however people want, but just a minor note that like some games of similar genres it kind of starts harder than it gets once you get a little bit of gear? Like at the beginning there are few options but once you get a little ways in there's a lot more things you can do and stuff like parries and combos get more flexible and easiest. Can always revisit if it's getting too easy though - I ended up bumping it up a difficulty level at some point because I got a bit too over-levelled doing side content.

It was just the parry timings I couldn't get. It's not like I'm breezing through it, but I was only good for 1 out of about 10 tries (repeating the same fight), giving no reason for the mechanic to exist for me. If it becomes too easy I'll change it back, but so far it feels right.

Right now I can't play much, because every time I get started my 3yo niece runs in and wants look at Barbie dolls. So every 15 minutes I get to use my 30teraflop gaming PC to google image search all the Barbie dolls that have ever existed.
