Ah, the good old American penis envy! You don't really think it's wrong to "kick some ass" for whatever false reason you can come up with! You're just jealous your country can't do it!

Ahh, good ole German ....
Ahh, good old Rag Head ...
Ahh, good old Nigger ...

When you want stereotypes, you know who to call, he has 233 of them.

Uh, you kinda missed the point. I wasn't trying to say that Americans were "penis envious". If that's what I wrote (it wouldn't make any sense anyway) then blame my inadequate English skills. Legion brought up the penis envy.

wrt to your proffering you earlier American stereotypes his point still stands.

Our ass kicking certainly helped matters in your country in the past.

Yes and now name more than one post-WW2 incident in which American ass kicking did much good.

South Korea. Unless you think the SKs would have had as much economic wealth and freedom had the Stalinists taken over the country with no resistance from the U.S. Atleast 50% of Koreans are better off.

Oh I know, the traditional lefty "explaination" is that the Stalinists would not have setup Orwellian security states had it not been for the threat from the US. Thus, the US/UN intervention in Korea can be seen as making the 50% in the North worse off, right?

Would have been a workers paradise without us.

(yes, I guess you could quibble over whether the US "kicked ass" in Korea. I'd say, given the lopsided body count, they did. Like Vietnam, it was another conflict that was a stalemate before it started due to the fear of widening the conflict. US had plans on the table to bomb the hell out of China's infrastructure, damns, and bridges, but never executed them, due to the fear of killing millions of civilians and getting the Russians involved)

Come on guys, why don't make a favorite all of us and Shut Up?

What's the point brassing around how good your home country is and how bad the others are? you can't learn much about successes. it's the mistakes that should be remembered and learned about. There's wuite lot of stuff in finland history that I am not proud of but I remember them and in my views try to choose road that would not cause history repeat itself.

Isnt part of the problem here that we cant agree on what the mistakes are?

Hi Nappe1, a wise historian whom I had the pleasure of learning under once explained to me that "history never repeats itself" simply because circumstances are never exactly the same. Just thought I would add this in here it is a truth that is all too often overlooked.

Yes, but history is the study of human behavior and humans do not change.

is that a sorry to Russ or a global sorry to all the US members here for spouting US stereotypes

It's a global sorry but there are mitigating circumcstances on my behalf: I have been exposed to far too many Legion and Joe DeFuria postings.

really? I thought it was us being exposed to your ego.

btw add Vince, Russ, Akira, Althorin and Democoder to that list and you have a fairly substancial hate club.

Jeeze guys, I can't help but feel left out.

Humans are quite nearly unpredictable as well. You would think if we did not change we would be quite predictable. I think I disagree with your statement in a wholesale manner. Behavior wise I do think we change quite substantially. But I am in no mood for a debate on it John.

OK.... while things are still unfolding in Iraq and it might be premature to add them to that list....

Survey finds hope in occupied Iraq

Iraqis appear to be adjusting to life with an occupying force
An opinion poll suggests most Iraqis feel their lives have improved since the war in Iraq began about a year ago.

About 6,000 interviews were carried out in total, half in Autumn last year and half this Spring, in a project run by Oxford Research International (ORI).

Seventy percent of people said that things were going well or quite well in their lives, while only 29% felt things were bad.

And 56% said that things were better now than they were before the war.

I don't know, must have been the CIA and they have rearranged the results to make the American lead effort look good.

I suspect the OSP. Oh, wait, they've been disbanded. :devilish:

I'm amazed at the people who disagreed with our invasion of Iraq who now apparently want it to fail. I have serious doubts as to how well democracy will germinate throughout the middle east, but there's always hope a few theocracies will fall in the surrounding area.
