Hi I need some advice on lcd monitors and scaling down.

http://www.benq.com.au/products/LCD/?product=812

I want to get this monitor for my ps3 and computer, how would a monitor like this which has 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution scale down to 12xx by 10xx resolution while playing video games. Abviously i need a good graphics card to run my computer at standard hi rez but i dont want to go sli.

Or Is this monitor a gimmick.

Scaling is best left to the video driver imho. I don't know how it is on current ATI drivers. But Nvidia supports this very well.

You can choose "NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio" in the driver and it won't stretch the picture to fill the screen if you launch a game that uses the 4:3 ratio.

I have a 7800GTX and a 24" screen. I usually only play older games like GTA:SA at that the max res (1920x1200) with AA. Civ4 also looks awesome at this res. Problem is, most older games do not support wide screen aspect ratios.

Newer games like Oblivion or Prey I have to drop AA, drop resolution or both to get them to play smoothly.
