Beer

How about it, I'm enjoying a nice super cheap beer: Natural Ice. It's a nice break from the expensive imports, what about ya'll? What beers do ya'll enjoy? Here's some of my favorites:

Sapporo
Shiner Bock
Red Stripe
St. Pauly's Girl (sp?)
Guiness
Rolling Rock
Tsing Tao
Asahi
Labbats Blue

An old favourite that sadly isn't made anymore: Pripps Dark Lager. (Other Pripps beers aren't much to talk about.) Maybe I'm so fond of that beer for the good times I've drunk it. Hot afternoon, condensate dripping from a cold glass, sitting in the sun, talking with friends, and watching the people passing by... <sigh>

Now I'll go for a König Ludwig Dunkel, or maybe more common ones like Staropramer or Kilkenny (those bastards! ;)).

[Added]
That was the favourite beers. But since it's quite often that I can't get any of them, I usually drink cider.
Those sweet girly versions that's almost like alco-pops. :) Preferably Kopparbergs (but I assume noone outside Sweden has heard about them), and especially the elderflower flavour.

Stella Artois
Nastro Azzurro
Tiger
Tsing Tao
Carlton Cold
Harp
Guinness - would be criminal if I didn't include this, although it's a stout... I love the stuff!
Heineken - NOT the shite we get in the UK though.

Hmm... 1664 and Becks are ok too. Nastro's the best "sunny day" beer out of that lot, easily. Tiger (in Singapore/Malaysia) is my favourite.

MuFu.

Well, I've just returned from a visit to Belgium and took the opportunity to fill the car boot with beer on the way back.

So this week, I have mostly been drinking:

Leffe Blonde
De Koninck
Hoegaarden Grand Cru
Straffe Hendryk
Brugs Witbier

I also have some Kirin left in the garage and on a trip to the pub the other night sampled some Buweiser Budvar and Crown Lager.

Not really a beer man myself, but if I do it's usually Guiness: Extra Cold or McAffery's Irish Ale. However my favoured poison is Vodka and red-Bull.

Aren't Heineken supposed to be changing the recipe here to be more like (or the same as) the continent?

I hope so! That would be a welcome change. It's like a totally different beer over there.

I'm not a beer drinker, or any kind of alchaholic drinker

hook me up with a cold Pepsi or Dr. Pepper anytime of the day :p

No duvel ? :)

No duvel ?

Nah - I had a couple of bottles of Duvel when I was in Belgium, but I'm not really a great fan of it. Once beer gets to around 8% vol, it gets a little too sweet for me. That said, I did bring back some Bush (12%) for my friends!

The best thing about it is that it is that beer is so incredibly cheap in the supermarkets compared to the UK - I'd guess that 4 cases of beer we bought back cost about a third as much as they would have done here!

I usually drink Karlsberg or Lübzer Pils. But there are countless other beers I like, too.

Westvleteren 12 is the ONE.
It's hard to get and most of the time one has to do with something like Rochefort 10/8, Chimay Blue, Trois Pistoles (the most belgian beer in Canada) or some such lesser beers.

I can't drink beer at all. Never tasted a beer I liked...

I didn't drink at all, actually, until a year or 2 ago (28 years old currently). I remember it vividly... Christmas at my wife's parents house. All the kids were playing with and jumping on "Uncle Chris" (me, the fun uncle...) I couldn't take any more and poured myself a glass of my father-in-law's favorite drink: Segram's V.O. and 7-up.

Problem was, I had no idea how strong to mix it as I've never paid much attention, and I ended up with what was about a 50/50 mix. By the time I took a couple swigs and found out how ridiculously strong it was, my father-in-law had notice me drinking it and I couldn't stop then, so I finished it off. We still have a good laugh about him watching me and betting himself I wouldn't finish, and me knowing I couldn't stop after he saw me...

I now have quite an acquired taste for this very fine and under-rated beverage. The father-in-law is 100% Irish, I'm 100% German (in heritage... we're both American by a couple of generations anyhow). The point? When we get together on the rare weekend afternoon with nothing to do, we almost need a moderator to keep us from using up all the V.O. in the neighborhood...
