Notice that I've said "could" and that represents the fact that I hope this is not true at all .
Why would they do this ?
Here are some of the advantages from being a card manufacturer as well as a chip maker :
-making the end-user's product gets you most of the money :
1)Pofit from the VPU ;
2)Profit from the card ( that an AIB would get instead );
3)Retail chanel profit ( which is also some money ) .
-quality control over your line of products and making sure that you give the option of HQ & HQIQ to the consumer if no other AIB does ;
-building the image of your product line ;
-insurance in the case you loose some contracts with some AIBs (independence) ;
3 quiestions : Do you think this is true ? Do you think this is good ? Good for who ? ATi or us ? (Why ? - is expected ).
