Argos drops GC?

C&VG article about Gamecube sales

Outsold PS2, but they're talking about selling 14,000 units in a week. Shame it doesn't quote all the numbers in full.

Just goes to show how price sensitive consumers can be.

Incidentally, when I was in Argos on Friday it was apparent that the Gamecube seemed to be selling much better. Saw about 3 get sold in the space of 10 mins.

Hopefully nintendo drops the price again to a 100$ world wide. The free game is nice. But a 100$ is even nicer. The system doesn't need to be number 1 or even number 2. Just a close third is all nintendo really needs.

I wish they would, but I doubt it. We might see $100 in the U.S but not Europe.

At present GC is selling for $125 (£79) in the U.K in certain stores (Dixons and Argos) and $205 (£129) everywhere else (that's the reccomended price) and its outselling PS2 as it is. So I'd think that if Nintendo do drop GC's price in the U.K they'd drop it to $130 (£79.99) or maybe £74.99 but no lower IMO. They may even only drop it to £99.99. Which IMO isn't really good enough considering people can get them for £79.99 now with one free game. Unless they're offering there own free game at that price, like Metroid Prime. Then stores can add a second free game on top for £99.99.

the only thing this article said is that argos sold 5000 consoles on a single day

They said sales of GC increased from an average of 100 per day to 5000 per day. Surely an average per day would have to be taking over at least a few days or a week or something? I don't know, maybe it was just bad wording in the article and it was only one day.

quote from the article:

"Sales of GameCube hardware jumped from an average of around 100 units a day to a stunning 5000 units last Saturday."

i find it clear that the 5000 units were concerning only this particular saturday. i understand someone else can read that differently.
