360 costs 4x a DVR in elec, "low power" mode a misnomer

Just having the Xbox 360 plugged into the wall alone, not even turned on, pulls 2 watts. That's 2 watts, 24 hours a day, 365 hours a year. Based on a kW hr price of $.07149 (the current from Com-Ed) that adds up to $12.35. That's 12 bucks I'm paying to have the privilege of seeing a yellow light on the rather large power supply. As a result of this I unplug it now when not using it, I like to think of it as if somebody offered me $10 for free...I'd take it, so why not do a little bit to avoid spending it.
I think I will do that too. I wonder how many more of my electronics pull in electricity when not doing anything. I think I'll get one of those kill-a-watt meters.

just to know:cca 3-4 kwh equal with 1 kg (2 lb) of coal, that the power company have to burn in the power plant to make that electricity.

So.3 kwh = 1 kg of coal.

1 day continous work of the xb2/ps3 worht 1 kg of coal.
If you don't turn off this thingy, they will conusume 30 kg of coal in every month!!!!

I'm pretty sure every electronics device has that happen. Even things like cell phone charges which aren't in a stanbby mode have that happen.
I've been unplugging less often used devices for years.

Isn't it said that around 10% of the energy consumption is due to standby modes and what not of various electronics? Wasn't there some discussion that whithin EU in the future no electronics will be sold that are not switched off properly and just go to standby mode. I now started having all my entertainment electronics plugged to socket with an on/off switch so at the end of the day they are all properly switched off...

Why not just invest on a surge protector... just flip that switch and everything plugged into it powers down...
