1st PD0 Direct Feed Trailer

Some of that is old footage, I think, with some different editing (e.g. that bridge scene is better cut in this). Nothing much new to say about it, except a point about animation - if anything I found the "slidey" walking/running etc. very distracting. I wouldn't say that's a particularly strong point at all.

We should have reviews at midnight, hopefully!

I hear you on the enemy animations. But the character animations are excellent, the roll, climbing the ladder, reloading, shooting from cover, all excellent IMO. The bad guys do seem to slide around though, kinda strange

I think it has to do with their collision detection/response. I implemented a system that gave similar results, although the "sliding" was more noticeable in mine when moving up against walls and stuff. It's basically a very simple and inexpensive collision response, and the idea is also to give a sense of momentum - so you keep moving for a small time even after you stop pressing to move forward. But it leads to this "sliding" also when looking at other characters.

Does anyone know if they're using their own physics engine for this, or a third party engine?

Oh, and for the record, I think that body armour thing is retarded.

If you're gonna do it, do it right, only the areas that are hit should lose body armour, it looks pretty dumb when you shoot a guy in the head, 6 pieces of body armour fall off and he's still running around

However, that;s a pretty small gripe.

Here are some new pics:

I think my concern with this game is art, which I find it atrocious. But you can't deny that technically, it's very good stuff.

it's about time we got some updated direct feed, talk about a huge difference between what we saw 3 monthes ago.

Lightning, shadows are nice on the characters and enemies ( self shadowing ? ), and even if they look cartoony they look much realistic.
I'd really want to see it on a proper hd screen with 5.1 surround it should be really immersive :)

Some textures are really nice though...

Game looks fun , co-op is going to be great and i think 32 player multiplay will be fun as well

It looks really good overall, but the really strong point is the lighting, that is just awesome and how it reacts with the surroundings, and although many think that the paralex mapping is odne a bit to much I like it, it is more or less every single surface that is bump mapped...

Wish we had this video in 720p but even with this it's back on my launch list purchase list

no doubt, if it looks this good compressed to 60mb at 640 resolution, it must look freakin deadly at a true 720p.

Looked very bland to me. Gameplay was probably okay, but visually it was very unimpressive. It's neither going for photoreal or artistic renderer, and just as a lot of bland grey buildings. And the music...ugh!

I'm some sort of griping whingeing bloke!

Looks like a fun game to me. If I can get a 360 this will be my first game. Of course I still have to shel out $800 on a hdtv before I'll play it.

Just realized the game has a very namco/arcady/time crisis feel to it.... maybe it's just me.
