Well Q1 lasts about 3 months; it could be in March 2007.
So far ATI is keeping quite about R600, it could be two reasons.
A. ATI repeating history example: R520
B. The chip is going to be like – worthy/success R580 48 pixel shader design.
If it is actually true; late February / early March time frame, Nvidia would respond quick; just like from G70 to G71 transition.
By then, it will take sometime for ATI to respond to G81 with R650 - Looks to me at the moment ATI is playing catch-up game.
If ATI really wants to win – they have to be more aggressive, just like Nvidia. Come on ATI/AMD get out by January the latest. I just don’t know why ATI’s update cycle changed vs. Nvidia is out already.
So far everybody’s hope is ATI has something Big, I mean BIG hidden up their sleeves and they won’t share it with us. Some people think it is another R300, some might be opposite but who knows. ATI has last chance to recover from their mistakes they made previously. I will give Nvidia a big credit for recovering quickly from nv30 disaster.
I’ am not saying ATI is in trouble from the past or present, but they are not in same sweet spot like back in 2002 “R300 timeâ€.
