well, I've never played Final Fantasy VII but one of my friends, a total casual, used to say that FF VII is the best game ever made. So it should have a refined gameplay, I guess. Either that or he just said that because of hearsay.I'm still with Final Fantasy VII (original PS game) and it's huge. Quick question: quite often, it's easy not to know what to do/go next. Does this get better in VIII, worse or does it stay the same?
The same IMO. But it was a long time since I played the original FFVII.I'm still with Final Fantasy VII (original PS game) and it's huge. Quick question: quite often, it's easy not to know what to do/go next. Does this get better in VIII, worse or does it stay the same?
If I remember correctly the Junction system's abilities are tied to the summon? There is also some automatic junction arrangement if I recall so you don't have to to it fully manually?Ok, I beat FF VII. I loved it, but I didn't superlove it either. There were a few puzzles I didn't like, as well as the fact of where to go or what to do next not being very clear. Pros: solid system, nice characters/story and amazing graphics/cinematic approach.
I started FF VIII. Ok. Junction system. W. T. F. Judging from the first minutes of gameplay, it's even more cinematic than the previous game, but I still have to learn this new system and it seems like a chore.
So far, I can only say I think so for the first question, as I haven't played more, yet.If I remember correctly the Junction system's abilities are tied to the summon? There is also some automatic junction arrangement if I recall so you don't have to to it fully manually?
Can someone confirm?
After a few weeks playing this game, yes, I can confirm that. And I'm (still?) not liking it. I don't feel there's a special connection from any character to any abilities or magic. GFs (summons) are totally switchable/exchangeable and I find that totally impersonal. I'm aware that many people think that system is genius, but honestly, I can't wait to beat the game and kiss the junction system good bye.If I remember correctly the Junction system's abilities are tied to the summon? It is not different from FF7 either though. Materia and Summons were interchangeable in 7 too. Character ability differentiation was not much associated with Materias. At least in 8, magic abilities were associated with the personality of the summons while characters maintained their own unique attacks, limit breaks and weapons just like 7After a few weeks playing this game, yes, I can confirm that. Yeah, I wasn't much of a fan of the materia system, either, because of that.It is not different from FF7 either though. Materia and Summons were interchangeable in 7 too.
