XCOM 2

this very recent video talks about a few other Xcom like games not mentioned before like Hard West 2:

this other video adds a few games I had never heard about. Some of them look quite nice and unexpectedly interesting, especially some of those the author mentions first:

haven't watched the entire video yet, but I can attest to the superb fun and quality of Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, one of my favourite games:

After 15 hours playing the vanilla Xcom 2 campaign, I read that you can play the expansion and have a much better experience without stopping to play the original campaign, so I did that, 'cos the improvements of Xcom 2 WOTC expansion are just too much.

The picture below shows the result of my first serious mission in the Xcom 2 War of the Chosen campaign.

Two dead soldiers who will be remembered as heroes. Normal difficulty, the default one, I didn't want to increase it because I don't know how to play well. Jane Kelly is the best, by far, in this game and in the original. What a machine, she defeated 4 enemies alone, she dispatched half the alien troop, without taking damage. It's no coincidence that she was my favorite recruit in the original campaign. I played with great evasiveness, and it worked.

a colleague told me that, without entering spoiler territory, if I like her so much, I should keep Jane Kelly alive at all costs, 'cos of something that happens later in the story, dunno exactly what. I was going to do that anyways, but that's the kind of advice I really enjoy.

Second mission completed and once again she was the best, she defeated the vast majority - she took out the alien Commander with the help of another who left him damaged.

FinaFinally a mission that ended without any casualties, even on normal level, it's already a huge achievement.

More of Jane Kelly's awesomeness. I get a mission that wasn't in the original game, to fight The Lost.

And if you kill one of the Lost, you gain a new action. There were 5 Lost, I deeated 1, boom, another turn, I kill another one with Jane Kelly, come on, another turn..., and so I defeated the 5 that were there with her, 😁 I was freaking out.

In the original campaign there wasn't a compatibility indicator between soldiers, and I love that from the expansion.

I took a Portuguese girl with me who is the one who works best with Jane Kelly, 9.4 compatibility on the battlefield. For now I don't know very well what advantages this gives you, but the game clearly tells you that there are some...
