Value of Linus Media Group benchmarking and reviews

Thinking more about it, this kind of attack may be less effective on users who don't have massive WAN and LAN bandwidth. 700MB probably comes in more or less instantly on their network. A normal user on a normal network may notice that the file is taking a long time to download and get suspicious.

3rd party investigation cleared them for what its worth
Wow. You mean the law firm Linus hired to investigate it found no evidence of it happening yet go in to no details on how the accusations are wrong? Shocked. I am shocked.

This obviously clear LTT of everything even though it explains nothing except that it's in no way LTT's fault and none of it happened.

Shouldn't they be suing the accusers for defamation? Why aren't they?

While I don't disagree with you I would ask what is the point of suing someone with no money?

Vindication? The clearing of your name and reputation?

Paying a law firm to investigate you for something like this is just as effective as putting lipstick on a pig.
Sure but its just a waste of money. It will cost a lot to go after the person and then it just keeps getting reintroduced into the news cycle.

Then you have people who wont beleive it even if they win the law suit

Maybe not. I think it's reasonable that the law firm documented their process and findings, so as to serve as a potential future legal defense
Yes I agree. they can point to this 3rd party report in any litigation that the original complainant or future ones might bring

Indeed. They are also exchanging public, written broadsides, vying for the moral or journalistic highground.

I think they both deserve some criticism. But I'm on the side of GN on this one.

LTT being aware of Honey's shady business practices, and deciding not to disclose anything to either users or other channels/websites really does not make them look good.

Their argument that Honey was good for the consumer so they decided to live and let live was BS. They should have checked to see if it was helping consumers or keeping them from better discounts which it turns out it was.

Alright, I'm gonna bump this given the newest beef between GN and LTT. How have our collective opinions changed since this topic started two years ago?

I enjoy both channels, howevery I don't see LTT as a technical review powerhouse nor do I see GN as the generator of malarkey and social commentary that LTT tends to provide (and I mean that in a lighthearted positive way.) I'm also aware of that girl Madison and her seemingly serious concerns around LTT staff behavior years ago, however I don't know if any of that is still in play today.

Steve's "holier than thou" attitude is getting annoying. Who gives a shit if Linus didn't make a big fuss about it when they found out and doesn't want to join any legal battles.. Linus is right, in the end it was them getting screwed over moreso than the customer who was still getting at least some deal from it.. They cancelled their partnership with Honey and moved on. He's got a company that's on a complete other level than GamersNexus and other shit to worry about. He'll pick his battles much more cautiously than GamersNexus.. and they decided it wasn't worth the headache. Steve continually going after him just seems petty . Yes Steve, your morals are so incredibly great! You're the man! You can call things out, but you can stop trying to throw everyone else under the bus along the way just because they don't live up to your moral standards... If his consumers were hurt by it, then I'm sure Linus would have taken action.

That's pretty much how I feel based off what I know about things.
