Retro gaming

Yesterday, I beat The Neverhood (PS version) after many many years of having it in my backlog.

Such a lovely game! The puzzles are challenging but not impossible (there was only one thing I had to check somewhere else, because, honestly, there was almost no way to know that).

I'll play Skullmonkeys, its platforming sequel, later on...

I'm still with Final Fantasy VII (original PS game) and it's huge. Quick question: quite often, it's easy not to know what to do/go next. Does this get better in VIII, worse or does it stay the same?

well, I've never played Final Fantasy VII but one of my friends, a total casual, used to say that FF VII is the best game ever made. So it should have a refined gameplay, I guess. Either that or he just said that because of hearsay.

The same IMO. But it was a long time since I played the original FFVII.

Ok, I beat FF VII. I loved it, but I didn't superlove it either. There were a few puzzles I didn't like, as well as the fact of where to go or what to do next not being very clear. Pros: solid system, nice characters/story and amazing graphics/cinematic approach.

I started FF VIII. Ok. Junction system. W. T. F. Judging from the first minutes of gameplay, it's even more cinematic than the previous game, but I still have to learn this new system and it seems like a chore.

If I remember correctly the Junction system's abilities are tied to the summon? There is also some automatic junction arrangement if I recall so you don't have to to it fully manually?

Can someone confirm?

So far, I can only say I think so for the first question, as I haven't played more, yet.
