He is obviously arguing that the GTX2060 should run 4K at that price point. It can't be any clear than that. Why do you focus only on the price point when he clearly mentions the GTX2060?
I still can't see how I got his argument backwards. What he meant is clear as water.
What I meant is clear as water, yes.
It's just that you didn't get it.
First of all, 4K is not an absolute term that perfectly defines all the variables that influence IQ and framerate. It's just saying how many pixel are being rendered per frame.
Therefore, I'd never say that card X or Y "should run 4K" no matter what the price point. It's a hollow argument from the get go.
A $350 discrete graphics card should have been tested at 4K, and the price isn't a valid argument because consoles who cost $300-400 run at that resolution. That holds specially true with the XBox One X which AFAIK doesn't even have ID Buffer for checkerboard.
What's the excuse for GTA V then?New games are most probably heavier to run, so the fact that the GTX2060 has more power than a two generations old flagship says absolutely zero about how it should perform in current games.
For example, Toms Hardware tested GTA V at 1440p and 4K with the 980 Ti, but with the RTX 2060 they tested the same game at 1080p and 1440p.
The last time I suggested someone to purchase a graphics card was a RTX 2070 which a good friend of mine did buy and is using ATM. It was a great purchase at the time even despite the unused features.@Shifty Geezer you still think Totz does not have an axe to grind here? Was he / is he innocently arguing a legit point about a price point or is he activelly just here to cry wolf about an nvidia product like he always does?
I'm interested in the frametimes for the RTX 2060 at 4K because I'm considering buying one for my HTPC. Which lo and behold is connected to a 4K TV (and currently has a RX480). On my HTPC I play mostly 3rd person action games like Tomb Raider so I don't really care about solid 60 FPS, and the RT hardware would be convenient for offline renders in my job.
Am I really the one with an axe to grind here? Your very first post earlier today was already loaded, and this last one is 80% flamebait and personal accusations.
Kindly do back off or just focus on the arguments, please.
