    CryptoCurrency Mining with GPUs *spawn*

Sold my Titan X Pascal (replaced by a 6900XT) yesterday, for a good price. Usually when I sell my old cards it are happy youngsters that show up, now it was a miner. These guys are scooping up everything they can. The guy lives in my town, and apparently with the very high electricity price...

    AMD Radeon RDNA2 Navi (RX 6500, 6600, 6700, 6800, 6900 XT)

Yes, rasterizer and cull rate seems to be the same on the 3090, 7 per clock. On the 6900 cull rate is twice as rasterizer rate 8 cull (and 4 rasterize) per clock (also clock on the 6900 is about 25% higher as 3090)

    AMD Radeon RDNA2 Navi (RX 6500, 6600, 6700, 6800, 6900 XT)

I ran some tests comparing a 3090 to a 6900 for a tesselated height map landscape with ~30 million triangles on screen. When viewed from above looking down, with all triangles front facing: 10 GTris/s versus 8 GTris/s for 3090 versus 6900 Wen viewed from ground level, with about half...

Apple is an existential threat to the PC

Currently it says: "OpenGLES is deprecated and is not available when building for Mac Catalyst. Consider migrating to Metal instead, or use `#if !TARGET_OS_MACCATALYST` to conditionally import this framework, first importing TargetConditionals.h if necessary." It's quite an old version of...

Apple is an existential threat to the PC

Mine arrived a couple weeks back, right on time. I have now to choose, will I switch on the beasty PC or the Mac mini. It boots much faster, so I tend to choose the mini often. As it sips nearly no power, you can let it on the whole day. There is an Xcode App I might want to port to the Mac...

Too bad NV didn't make the cut for the RT consoles then Once they have ARM they might be in a better position to compete. Though AMD have been making great progress in CPU and GPU the last few years too.

Polygons, voxels, SDFs... what will our geometry be made of in the future?

It's computed at full resolution without adding procedural detail. The vorticity is boosted a bit to compensate for simulation loss.

I'm currently using 2 different wireless mouses I already had, but I plan to get one of those easy switch mouses too.

    Nvidia Ampere Discussion [2020-05-14]

Yes: You've just mentioned 'hardware-assisted ray tracing being available for Crysis Remastered at launch'. Can you go into a bit more detail? Is this using Turing and Ampere's RT Cores, and what kind of improvement have you seen by enabling them? [SH] We are using the Vulkan extensions to...

Apple is an existential threat to the PC

I'm seeing like two cooling fans on this video, one standing and one flat. I don't get sound from the video, if there is any, to get the idea. The comment on Youtube says: "The 120mm fan runs at 5V and produce a low and constant airflow"

Apple is an existential threat to the PC

Imagine what any x86 CPU would do without active cooling, it would not just throttle, but melt.

    Nvidia Ampere Discussion [2020-05-14]

That is a ridiculous statement, in case you are not aware. Rendering on those graphs is slow for all cards as raytracing is on. Watch the graphs without raytracing and see the difference, only under these conditions can the shader TFLOPs be maximised.
